I’m a big complainer, and one of my favorite things to gripe about is my back pain after a long day of being contorted over the keyboard. I always have my eye on one of the best massage guns to get me through the worst of it, but after trying the Hyperice Venom 2 Back, I know that it is the only solution I need.
The Venom 2 Back is a simple solution that feels like it’s giving you a great big hug and providing relief to muscle tension at the same time.
It’s actually surprising how much pain bad posture can cause. Over time, I’ve noticed that the more time I spend sitting at my desk, the worse it gets.
Of course, I have turned to solutions like standing desks and walking treadmills to take some of the strain off, but ultimately, I need something that is going to help soothe me when my posture isn’t the best.
How it works
Unlike typical massage wraps or massage guns, the Hyperice Venom 2 Back isn’t going to knead your muscles into submission. Instead, it uses a combination of heat and vibration therapy to relax muscles.
I always turn to heat therapy when my muscles feel sore after a long hike, as it works to increase blood flow in the area to speed up the recovery process. Adding vibration means that the muscles are also activated, further increasing this blood flow and reducing any muscle spasms that may be happening. The vibrations are also super relaxing, and there are three pattern settings to choose from.
There are also three choices of heat intensity: 113ºF (level 1), 122ºF (level 2), 131ºF (level 3). I love how I am able to customize my options and get the most out of the wrap depending on what I need that day.
Support from the app
My favorite thing about the Hyperice range is the companion app that comes with the devices. The Hyperice app makes it so simple to visualize your treatment so you know exactly what is happening.
The app connects via your phone’s Bluetooth to the wrap, and you can then use the app to control the heat and vibrations of the wrap as it starts to work. You can also alter the run time of the wrap in the app. I found that the best length of time for me was 15 minutes, as I could use it as I got on with another task, such as giving the kitchen a quick tidy up.
Sure, you can control the wrap with the buttons on the attached pod, but for me, being able to see exactly what is going on makes the experience so much better.
When I use it
As soon as I feel a slight ache in my back, I know it’s time to get out the Venom wrap. This is usually near the end of the work week, where I’ve spent most of my time hunched over my keyboard reviewing the latest tech.
But it also sees some action after I have been out hiking on the muddy trails over the weekend. When I find myself walking up steep inclines, it can put strain on my lower back, especially when I am carrying a heavy backpack.
The wrap offers immediate relief when I need it most without any fuss. I may look a little silly for 15 minutes when I wear it while it does its thing, but it is so worth it!
