Welcome to Indie App Spotlight. This is a weekly 9to5Mac series where we showcase the latest apps in the indie app world. If you’re a developer and would like your app featured, get in contact.
Weather mini is a nicely designed weather app for the entire Apple ecosystem that adds a couple key features that Apple Weather misses. You can plan out trips, chat with the on-device Apple Intelligence model for forecasts, and it even includes a fully featured Apple Watch app.
Top features
First things first, Weather mini uses Apple’s WeatherKit, so you don’t have to worry too much about the general reliability of the data if you were already an Apple Weather user.
With Weather mini, you can check Trip Forecasts. If you’re about to go on a trip, you can give the dates to Weather mini, and it’ll track the weather for your destination in advance. This is incredibly useful since the app saves it, so you can keep checking in on it as you get closer to your trip. It’s a great peace of mind feature.
Weather mini includes a ton of nice features that feel at home on the Apple ecosystem, including a dock icon on Mac that tracks the weather in real time, as well as integration with Siri. There’s also a beautiful Apple Watch app with support for complications.
Lastly, Weather mini uses on-device Apple Intelligence models that make it easy to use natural language search for forecast details. Everything about the app is privacy-first.

Weather mini is available for free on the App Store for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Vision Pro, and Apple Watch.
