Industry, Primal, Amish: What’s New to Watch on HBO Max the Week of January 9, 2026
SHARE

HBO Max has a huge selection of shows and movies from all of its partner networks, including HBO, Discovery, Food Network, and more. New shows and movies are always being added (including season two of The Pitt earlier this week), so here are my top choices for this weekend and the week ahead, plus everything new streaming below. 2026 is starting strong with the return of two fan-favorite series and more. Here are our top options for your watchlist.

This Week on Max: PCMag’s Picks

Industry: Season 4 (Jan. 11)

HBO has a knack for dramas set in the business world that ratchet up the stress to unhealthy levels, and Industry is no exception. Set in the post-2008 financial crisis world of investment banking, the series follows a group of young hires at London-based Pierpoint & Co, all assigned to the trading floor and thrown into deep waters. It’s only improved over the seasons, with some of the sharpest writing and most trenchant critiques of wealth culture you’ll find anywhere.

Primal: Season 3 (Jan. 12)

Our favorite works of art are those that let us into a creator’s inner world, and Genndy Tartakovsky’s animated caveman masterpiece, Primal, is a great example. Since its premiere in 2019, the show has delivered high-octane action as protagonists Spear (a young Neanderthal) and Fang (a Tyrannosaurus rex; don’t worry about it, it’s not historically accurate) traverse a dangerous world together.

  • Director: Genndy Tartakovsky

  • Cast: Aaron LaPlante, Laetitia Eido, Joel Valentine

  • Genre: Animation

  • Rating: TV-MA

  • IMDb Rating: 8.6/10

Suddenly Amish (Jan. 14)

We’ve seen more than a few reality TV shows about young Amish people on Rumspringa, their sojourn into the modern world, where they experience all the horrors it has to offer before returning to the farm. But new TLC series Suddenly Amish flips the script, with a half-dozen non-Amish people transplanted into the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch county to see if they can hack it.

  • Genre: Reality

  • Rating: TV-PG
