JD.com has launched Joybuy, its European online shopping platform, in six new markets including the U.K. and Germany, as the Chinese e-commerce giant steps up its overseas expansion. The company is positioning the service around faster delivery and direct retail operations rather than the marketplace model used by rivals such as AliExpress and Temu.
JD.com said European customers can receive same-day delivery on orders placed before 11 a.m., with free delivery in the U.K. for orders over £29. Unlike rivals that mainly ship goods from China, JD.com is relying on local warehouses and logistics networks in Europe. [CNBC]
