KDE Begins Landing Features For Plasma 6.7, Some Last Minute Plasma 6.6 Improvements

KDE developers have been quite busy this week in preparing for the upcoming Plasma 6.6 release in February while also beginning to land features for what will be the Plasma 6.7 desktop.

This Week in Plasma is out with its newest issue and some of the Plasma highlights for the past week include from Plasma 6.6 and 6.7 features to various fixes and more:

Plasma priority scheduler options

– KDE’s System Monitor In Plasma 6.6 will now let you set the priority of processes graphically. This allows adjusting priority both for the CPU scheduler and I/O scheduler too.

– Plasma 6.6 is bringing version 2 of the Wayland color management protocol.

– Plasma 6.6 will also fix some visual glitches when turning on Firefox’s HDR mode.

– Plasma 6.6 will no longer perform a file-system scan by default when mounting a removable disk but have made it a manual option within the actions list for the removable drive.

– Plasma 6.7 meanwhile is adding a switch to the Brightness and Color widget to instantly go from light-to-dark or dark-to-light modes.

– Plasma 6.7 is also adding a global push-to-talk feature where all microphones would be muted until the specified key is pressed.

– Plasma 6.7 System Settings’ Game Controller, Mouse, and Touchpad pages will now only appear when such devices are actually present on the system.

– KDE Frameworks 6.23 will improve the touch-friendliness of open/save dialogs.

– Plasma 6.5.6 will fix one of the top crashes for Plasma when turning off certain screens.

– Plasma 6.6 will fix a crash when waking up a laptop connected to an external screen.
