Kioxia has announced the launch of new models of SSD storage unitsfor which it has taken advantage of the celebration of CES 2026 in Las Vegas. This is the series Kioxia BG7with 8th generation BICS Flash 3D flash memory and CMOS technology directly attached to the matrix. It is designed for PC OEMs and customers, both consumer and enterprise laptops, desktops.

These drives manage to reach one million Iops in read and write speed, in addition to achieving a sequential read speed of up to 70,000 MB/s, which improves performance over Kioxia’s previous SSD family, the BG6 by 10% and 16% respectively.

Regarding its energy efficiency in sequential writing performance, it has increased by around 67%, thanks to the incorporation of CBA technology, which improves the performance of memory cells. But also due to the incorporation of efficient control circuits and an optimized SSD controller.

The Kioxia BG7 family of SSD drives has NVMe 2.0d capabilities as they are PCIe 4.0 drives, allowing manufacturers to have more precise control when assembling equipment. Furthermore, apart from the Kioxia BG M.2 type 2230 and 2280 range models, the Kioxia BG7 series has a new form factor, type 2242. This increases its mounting possibilities on more devices.

The Kioxia BG7 series DRAM-free drives also support HMB (Host Memory Buffer) technology, which uses part of the host memory (DRAM). On the other hand, they are compatible with self-encrypting drives (SED) with TCG Opal version 2.01.

Are Available in capacities of 256 GB, 512 GB, 1024 GB (1 TB) and 2048 GB (2 TB). For now, both the Price of each SSD unit and when they will be released on the market are unknown. So far, the company has only confirmed that there are already several PC builders who are testing them.
