Apple’s expected iPhone Fold is said to be in testing, but its specifications undecided — and the latest version has a slightly smaller internal screen.

The iPhone fold is believed to have been in development for years, with Apple coming late to the party but planning to do so with a markedly better device whose folded screen does not crease. Now the latest rumor says that Apple is testing a version that would have a smaller screen on the inside than previously reported.

According to leaker “Digital Chat Station” on Weibo (in translation), the latest screen is 7.58 inches diagonally. In March 2025, the same leaker reported that the internal screen was 7.74 inches, before amending it in April 2025 to 7.76 inches.

Separately in March 2025, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed it would be 7.8 inches.

The variation in screen sizes conceivably backs up one rumor from February 2024 that Apple was working on at least two iPhone fold prototypes.

Where leaks report a screen resolution, though, the claims have been more consistent. The internal screen is repeatedly reported to have a resolution of 2,713 pixels by 1,920 pixels.

Dual camera system

This latest leak also adds detail to previous Ming-Chi Kuo rumor that the iPhone fold would have a dual camera system on the rear. The iPhone fold will almost certainly be thinner than current iPhones — when folded out — so it would have seemed more probable that it would have the same single rear camera as the expected iPhone 17 Slim.

“Digital Chat Station” repeats that it will instead have dual cameras, but now also specifically states that it will be a 48MP dial camera.

The same leaker has recently claimed that all models in the forthcoming iPhone 17 range will have 48MP cameras.

That particular rumor is possibly just reasoned extrapolation of Apple’s plans rather than detail from the supply chain. Nonetheless, overall “Digital Chat Station” has been fairly accurate in the past, although he or she tends to issue very many leaks and perhaps only the correct ones get remembered.

Most recently, the leaker has said that the iPhone 18 will get under-display Face ID, and that there will be an improved version in the iPhone 19.
