Lenovo is becoming one of the most prolific players in the PC handheld gaming space with consoles competing with the likes of the Steam Deck. The brand just announced its next-gen flagship handheld is coming in Oct., although it has yet to reveal an exact release date.
After a teaser back in January during CES 2025, the brand has now confirmed more details about the handheld, including a starting price of $1,099. That’s a big increase over the base model of the original handheld which started at $699, and its Legion Go S remodel was priced at $729.
The Lenovo Legion Go 2 will come in two different variants with the cheaper model sporting an AMD Z2, while the top-end version has a more powerful Z2 Extreme and 32GB of RAM.
Another big change is the screen which is a 1200p OLED display with HDR TrueBlack 1000 certification and variable refresh rate up to 144Hz. That’s a lower resolution than the original handheld, but it’s switching to an OLED panel which Lenovo believes will offer a better overall experience.
You’ve only got a black option for the handheld, and it comes with Lenovo’s detachable TrueStrike controllers. In a similar way to the Nintendo Switch 2, you can take these controllers off the sides so you can use the console in handheld, tablet and console mode.
Lenovo says, “Hall effect joysticks provide accurate, drift-free control, and a large pivot D-pad makes combos a fluid, natural experience when playing fighting or retro games.”

This a Windows 11-based handheld, unlike the SteamOS based version of the Legion Go S the brand released earlier this year.

Lenovo hasn’t provided a battery estimate for this new handheld, but we know the company says it will provide 50% more charge. In PCMag’s review of the original Legion Go, we found the battery struggled compared to the competition, so battery improvements are going to be necessary for many customers.
There are four different variations of the Legion Go 2 with the cheapest at $1,099.99 sporting an AMD Z2 with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Jumping up to 32GB of RAM then costs $1,199.99.
The more powerful AMD Z2 Extreme version comes with a baseline of 32GB of RAM. The 1TB version is $1,349.99, while a 2TB version costs $1,479.99. All versions of the Legion Go 2 will come with microSD support for extra space.
