LG has announced the pricing and availability for the mix-and-match Sound Suite speakers and home cinema system, which are compatible with the Dolby Atmos FlexConnect technology that enables easier placement of speakers around the home and offers support for wireless Dolby Atmos spatial audio.

The company previously showcased the modular range, which includes the central H7 soundbar, the M5 and M7 surround speakers, and the W7 subwoofer before Christmas as part of its pre-CES teases. Now we know how much the components – which can be configured in 27 different ways – will cost in the United States and that they’ll be out later this month.

The H7 soundbar – a potential rival to the Sonos Arc – retails for $1,000 in the United States. It uses the same LG’s Alpha 11 AI Processor Gen 3 as LG’s top OLED television sets. LG says this offers a learning NPU that “enhances clarity, precision, and realism across content types.”

The W5 and W7 speakers are priced at $250 and £400 respectively, putting them in the same ballpark as the Sonos Era 100 and Sonos Era 300 bookshelf speakers. They can be used as a stereo pair or dotted around the place using the new Dolby Atmos FlexConnect tech to create an immersive home cinema soundscape wherever they’re placed.

They also offer Wi-Fi support for Dolby Atmos channels, without the need for wires dangling about your living room. Finally the W7 wireless subwoofer “provides deep, impactful bass that is dynamically tuned through Room Calibration Pro for balanced performance in any room,” according to LG. That costs $600.

This is the first time LG tech has played nice with Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, which works to create a coherent home theatre surround sound system, wherever users plonk the speakers.

“Dolby Atmos FlexConnect fits your audio system seamlessly into everyday life. Speakers can go where you choose to fit your furniture and room, and the system will automatically unlock the best audio performance,” Dolby explains. “So you can place them where your plugs are and around your furniture and let the software and proximity sensors to the rest. And, if you’re using the soundbar as the primary device, FlexConnect will work with any television set too.”

We’ve spoken to LG about the UK pricing for the Sound Suite range and will update this post when we hear back.
