If you’ve ever been lost in a flood of group chat messages on WhatsApp, you’re not alone. To fix this, WhatsApp is now testing a new feature on Android that could make group conversations easier to follow – message threads. news Also Read: 7 SECRET WhatsApp Tricks To Make Messaging Faster

The feature, spotted in the latest beta versions of WhatsApp, allows users to see replies to a particular message in a separate view, the WabetaInfo reported. This way, instead of endlessly scrolling to find who replied to what, you can jump straight into a thread and keep track of that side conversation.

How WhatsApp Threads Work

How does it work? Once a message gets at least two replies, a small “X replies” indicator shows up below it. Tapping on this will open a thread view, where all the responses linked to that message appear in order.

Inside the thread, you can continue replying, and your messages will be marked as “Follow-up replies.” These replies still appear in the main chat, so you won’t miss them even if you don’t open the thread. It’s similar to the comment systems you might have seen on Reddit or X (formerly Twitter), but without endless nested replies.

Group chats often get chaotic, with multiple people responding to different points at the same time. With threads, conversations will stay organised to focus on the topic you care about. It also helps those who will join later to catch up quickly since all replies to a message are grouped together in one place.

Another handy detail is that even if not everyone in the group has access to threads yet, the feature will still work for those who do. However, it only applies to new messages – older ones won’t be reorganised.

When Will You Get It?

Currently, this update is available only to select beta testers on Android running WhatsApp beta version 2.25.25.7 and 2.25.25.8. However, WhatsApp is expected to roll it out to more users over the coming weeks.
