Earl this year Microsoft revealed his plans to stop offering Support to Office appsthat is, to those of Microsoft 365that worked under Windows 10 after this operating system stopped having support on October 14. But it seems that he has thought better, and now he has confirmed that will continue offering security updates to these apps for another three more years.
As the company said in a post on support of making a few days «to help maintain security during transition to Windows 11, Microsoft will continue to offer security updates for Microsoft 365 apps 365 for Windows 10 for three more years after Windows 10 reaches the end of its support. These updates will be offered through the standard update canals, and will end on October 10, 2028 ».
Microsoft announced this change, without practically noise, at the end of April in a support article for IT Systems Administrators. In it, in addition, he reiterates that Microsoft 365 apps in Windows 10 will continue to function normally, but remember that companies should be updated to Windows 11 “to avoid performance and reliability problems over time.”
The company does not mention, of course, none of the problems facing companies with this update due to the incompatibility with many of the computers they are currently using in terms of hardware capabilities.
Microsoft has been trying to convince consumers and companies to be updated for months to update To Windows 11 before the date on which Windows 10 will stop having support arrives. Although he has described 2025 as «The year of pc renewal to Windows 11«, The adoption of the latest version of its operating system is still far behind the one Windows 10.
The company has even shown 10 messages to Windows users, occupying a good part of the screen, so that they change their equipment and/or operating system but the change does not advance as they would like. Therefore, it seems that it has decided to give a broader margin to Office users in regard to the safety of their applications.
