Microsoft has reached an agreement with the CNIthrough the National Cryptological Center (CCN) To reinforce the cybersecurity of the public sector in Spain. This alliance causes both parties to compromise a safer and resilient digital environment against online threats.

The agreement has been signed by the Secretary of State Director of the CNI, Esperanza Casteleiroand the President of Microsoft Spain, Paco Salcedo. With it they seek to create a public-private collaboration framework that facilitates the development of joint activities and focused on the protection of digital systems, the specialized training of the technical personnel of the administrations and the continuous improvement of the technological safety standards.

Among the objectives of the agreement is the design of training and awareness programs for public sector professionals. Especially in the areas of CBersecurity, cloud technologies and regulatory compliance. Microsoft will also collaborate in the development of online content with the National Security Scheme (Ease), certification with which they have more than 170 of the company’s and cloud services, which can be used both in training actions and in reference materials for public bodies.

In addition, those of Redmond and the CNI will work on the elaboration and maintenance of technical guides that facilitate the safe use of cloud technologies, incorporating the shared security model and the accumulated experience in the deployment of safe infrastructure internationally.

This collaboration also contemplates cooperation in the evolution and compliance with the Stic Products and Services Catalog (CPSTIC), the official list of technological solutions that meet the security requirements established for use in public administrations. Also in the development of concept evidence that allow public bodies to establish clear route and adapted roadmaps adapted to their digital maturity level.

The National Network of Cybersecurity Operations Centers (SOC), public centers that coordinate surveillance and response to cybersecurity incidents, will also be reinforced thanks to this agreement, since it will facilitate actions aimed at improving surveillance, early alert and incident response capacity. For this, technical support, knowledge exchange and evaluation of technological solutions will be launched.

This agreement expands the collaboration between both entities, which already work together, among other things, through the International Government Security Program (GSP) and the European Microsoft Security Program, which the company announced recently.

The program adds new elements for the protection of Europesuch as the intensification of the exchange of intelligence on threats based on AI with European governments; new investments to reinforce the capacity and resilience in cybersecurity; and the expansion of strategic alliances to interrupt cyber attacks and dismantling the networks used by cybercriminals.
