More than two years after its first season wrapped, Apple TV has finally premiered the long-awaited return of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. Here’s what to expect.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2 premieres on Apple TV

Following months of buildup, including Apple’s announcement of a new Monarch: Legacy of Monsters prequel series centered on a young Lee Shaw, the second season of the show is now streaming on Apple TV.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters premiered on Apple TV back in November 2023 to high praise from sci-fi fans and specialized media, and just a few days ago, early reviews of the show’s second season looked equally positive.

The show is part of the Monsterverse franchise, which brings together Legendary’s interconnected stories centered on Godzilla, Kong, and other Titans, and its first season tracked “two siblings looking to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch,” per Apple’s description.

Today’s premiere also follows Apple’s record-setting drone show featuring Godzilla and Kong, staged as part of the lead-up to the new season:

If you’ve already watched the first season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters and want to know what’s in store for season 2, here’s what Apple says:

Season two will pick up with the fate of Monarch — and the world — hanging in the balance. The dramatic saga reveals buried secrets that reunite our heroes (and villains) on Kong’s Skull Island, and a new, mysterious village where a mythical Titan rises from the sea. The ripple effects of the past make waves in the present day, blurring the bonds between family, friend and foe — all with the threat of a titan event on the horizon.

Apple TV is available for $12.99 per month and features hit TV shows and movies like F1 The Movie, Pluribus, Severance, The Studio, The Morning Show, Shrinking and Silo.
