After the 30-year partnership with EA Sports came to a close, we knew this wasn’t the end of FIFA-branded video games. Now the sport’s governing body has found a new partner ahead of next-summer’s World Cup.

Netflix Games has partnered up with FIFA on a new game that’ll be playable for subscribers “at the touch of a button” and ready in time for the showcase tournament next summer. According to a blog post from Netflix today, the title will be more accessible than the more recent FIFA/EA Sports FC releases that require quite a lot of skill to play at a decent level. Netflix said it’ll be “a format that’s fast to learn, thrilling to master, and built for anyone to jump in.”

All you need is “Netflix and your phone.” the company said. This suggests the next FIFA is not going to be a direct rival to EA Sports FC, but a touch-friendly game that even gaming novices will be able to access easily and quickly. “We want to bring football back to its roots with something everyone can play with just the touch of a button,” said Alain Tascan, the president of Netflix Games.

The game will be developed by Delphi Interactive, the company involved (along with IO Interactive) in the forthcoming James Bond origin story video game called 007 First Light.

“As lifelong FIFA fans, we’re honoured to help usher in the bold next generation and reimagine the future of the franchise,” said Casper Daugaard, the founder and CEO of Delphi. “Our mission is simple: Make the FIFA game the most fun, approachable, and global football game ever created.”

The game will be available to Netflix subscribers on mobile and on television sets. Netflix is promising more details in 2026.
