Cybersecurity startup dope.security Inc. today added native support for ChatGPT to its Cloud Application Control feature, allowing enterprise teams to manage and restrict access to OpenAI’s tool without rerouting data through external data centers.

The update is designed to allow administrators to block, allow or selectively enable ChatGPT based on roles and corporate policies, all enforced directly on the endpoint.

The new release comes as use of ChatGPT continues to surge in enterprise environments, bringing both productivity gains and security issues. Dope.security argues that though artificial intelligence tools help teams accelerate workflows, they can also introduce significant risk if employees inadvertently share proprietary information.

The new ChatGPT integration in dope.security’s platform aims to strike a balance between usability and control, offering a middle ground between blanket bans and open access.

With the new support, administrators can configure ChatGPT access in minutes via a simple interface that lets them apply rules such as “Allow for @company.com, block all others.” The policies override broader web access settings and can be customized by department or user type, for example, granting access to the marketing team while restricting engineers handling sensitive code.

The platform also enforces policies directly at the device level to help organizations avoid latency, reliability issues and privacy tradeoffs that often occur when implemented via traditional secure web gateways. Dope.security’s implementation ensures faster decision-making and smoother user experiences all without compromising control by eliminating the need to route traffic through external data centers.

The addition of support for ChatGPT adds to a growing list of supported software-as-a-service applications within dope.security’s Cloud Application Control console. The company currently offers support for Slack, Dropbox Inc., Salesforce Inc. and Box Inc. Admins can manage access to those SaaS services from a single interface that reduces complexity and minimizes the risk of misconfigurations.

Dope.security is also advising enterprises to track shadow IT usage to gain better visibility into how generative AI tools are accessed across both corporate and personal accounts. The company emphasizes the real need to enforce clear boundaries, such as restricting access to verified corporate domains. Doing so also helps ensure compliance and data protection as tools like ChatGPT become more deeply integrated into everyday operations.

Dope.security is a venture capital-backed startup that has raised $23.9 million over three rounds. Investors in the company include Google Ventures (GV Management Co.), Boldstart Ventures and Preface Ventures.
