A NEW road law is coming into force and it’s set to impact Americans who do not drive a car.

The measures which are to come into effect on October 1 will impact those who opt for a seatless mode of transport.

A new law will limit e-scooters from going faster than 30mph.

Riders will be given the same right as someone who is riding a bike.

But, those who use a motorized or e-scooter will have to follow a set of strict rules.

They must have white headlights, and red lights on the back.

Motorized scooters are banned from the sidewalk or bike lanes.

Americans must not use have their motor switched on if they are riding on a sidewalk, according to the Montana Free Press.

And, riders must also give way to pedestrians.

Those who use a motorized scooter and are under 18 must wear a helmet.

But teens do not need a drivers license to ride an e-scooter.

The new law will impact those in Montana this fall and also applies to those who use a skateboard.

But, cyclists in Montana appear to be skeptical about the new law.

“Those look terrifying,” Ryan Landolfi told the Montana Free Press.

“It seems kind of crazy that those things are street-legal.”

Cities across the US have introduced tighter regulations regarding e-scooters.

What is reckless driving?

Laws across the country are cracking down on careless drivers who endanger other people on the road. Here are some behaviors that are considered reckless driving:

  • Speeding
  • Street racing
  • Aggressive driving/road rage
  • Tailgating
  • Driving under the influence
  • Using a phone while driving
  • Running red lights
  • Inattentive driving
  • Improperly changing lanes
  • Not signaling
  • Carrying too many passengers
  • Weaving in and out of traffic

In Los Angeles, Americans have to be at least 16 years old in order to use one.

But, they are limited from traveling at speeds of more than 15mph.

Riders under 16 must have a drivers license or permit, according to the law firm Schmidt and Clark.

There are also rules in place that ban double-riding.

This is where someone might get on the back of the person controlling the e-scooter.

E-scooter users in Los Angeles are banned from using their device on sidewalks.

They must use lanes that are reserved for bikes.

E-scooter riders cannot take to the streets after 10pm.

The curfew is in place until 5am.
