This week starts a new month with a pile of library movies, a cool Turkish drama, some true crime, and more.
This Week on Max: PCMag’s Picks
The Graft (Sept. 26)
This new Turkish series looks stylish and compelling. Ozan is a young emergency room doctor whose perception of the world is forever shattered when his sister dies. This brings him to cross paths with Kenan, a powerful figure in organized crime. Both men find themselves changing as a result, to their detriment.
A Nightmare on Elm Street 1-5 (Oct. 1)
October is typically the month that streaming services load up on classic horror movies, and HBO Max is diving in. In addition to the Halloween franchise and a bunch of others, it’s also unleashing the first five Nightmare on Elm Street movies. These flicks vary in quality, but the first one maintains its aura as a gore-soaked grindhouse classic. HBO Max also begins streaming the goofy, gonzo Freddy vs. Jason today.

The Friday the 13th Murders (Oct. 2)
Are you superstitious? Either way, check out the new docuseries The Friday the 13th Murders. Each episode dives deep into a tragedy that took place on that unlucky day, from the death of Tupac Shakur and the murder of Kitty Genovese to the Costa Concordia cruise ship disaster. Sure, it’s just another day, but there might be something to all this numerology nonsense.
