The first Linux kernel patches specific to their next-gen Vera Rubin NLV144 “VR144NVL” were posted today to the public Linux kernel mailing list.
NVIDIA’s successor to Grace Blackwell pairs their custom-designed 88-core Arm-based Vera CPU with a Rubin GPU and allows for rack-scale deployments up to 144 GPUs. Vera Rubin NLV144 is expected to formally launch in the latter half of 2026 but, of course, Linux hardware enablement work begins well in advance.
The first Linux kernel patches specifically mentioning NLV144 / VR144NVL were posted today for bringing up their Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) support. The NVIDIA VR144NVL platform will employ an ASpeed AST2600 SoC and the patches posted today provide the necessary Device Tree configuration as “aspeed-bmc-nvidia-vr144nvl.dts.”
The patch series is a small but important step toward more of the Vera Rubin Linux bring-up happening over the coming months.
