Artificial Intelligence is not just growing at breathtaking speed, but it also threatens the global workforce, which is impossible to ignore. As businesses increasingly adopt AI tools, many traditional roles are at risk. Tech leaders like Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas and many others are calling out for urgent adaptation of AI, warning that those who fail to keep up could be left behind.

“Ditch Instagram, Learn AI,” Says Perplexity CEO

Perplexity AI CEO Aravind Srinivas has recently had a conversation with tech YouTuber Matthew Berman about the enhancements of AI. Srinivas emphasized and mentioned the growing importance of AI literacy and he says, “Spend less time doomscrolling on Instagram; spend more time using the AIs.”

He warned that fluency in AI tools is already becoming a deciding factor in the job market. “People who really are at the frontier of using AIs (systems) are going to be way more employable than people who are not. That’s guaranteed to happen,” he added.

Adapting to AI’s Speed is a Challenge

Perplexity’s CEO Arvind Srinivas acknowledged the advancement of AI faster than most people can keep up with. AI tools are evolving every few months and hence it is placing immense pressure on profession and youth to upgrade their sills every now and then. “Human race has never been extremely fast at adapting,” he said. “Current developments are testing the limits in terms of how fast we can adapt.”

Importance of Entrepreneurship as a Lifeline

Despite the looming threat of automation, Srinivas believes in turning the disruption into opportunity. “Either the other people who lose jobs end up starting companies themselves and make use of AIs, or they end up learning the AIs and contribute to new companies,” he explained.

In a previous podcast with The Verge, Srinivas highlighted how AI tools like Perplexity’s Comet could even automate the work of recruiters. “A recruiter’s work worth one week is just one prompt: sourcing and reach outs,” he said.

Not only Perplexity’s CEO Arvind Srinivas, but there are other leaders too including Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, and many others mentioned about the growing popularity of AI and how it can impact jobs.
