Personally, We Think These Last-Minute Amazon Prime Day Desktop PC Deals Are Too Good To Miss

It’s been the longest Amazon Prime Day in human history, but we’re at the last day. Friday at midnight sees the end of tens of thousands of discounts on all kinds of products, and the big-ticket items are where you can really save. Picking up a desktop PC will run you into the four figures, especially if you’re tricking it out with the latest graphics cards and other components. We’ve tracked down big Prime Day sales on all kinds of PCs, with price cuts of up to 29%, but they’re gone when the weekend hits.

Dell Desktop Deals

All-in-one desktops are a good choice for families with many computing needs, as they’re flexible, easy to set up, and affordable. Dell’s 27-inch AIO boasts a sizable, narrow-bezel. full HD IPS display that has good color quality and contrast. It also features Dell ComfortView Plus blue light reduction to eliminate eyestrain. We reviewed a slightly older version of this setup, noting that it had strong application performance and a good webcam. A generous 32GB of DDR5 RAM makes this a capable multitasker, too. Prime Day brings a 20% price cut.

Dell is known for its no-frills desktops that can be found in homes and offices around the world, using economies of scale to deliver reliable midrange quality in completely unobtrusive cases. The OptiPlex 7020 is one in its nearly endless line of business towers, and this one has a surprisingly adroit loadout in terms of components. 32GB of RAM is way more than you’d expect in a desktop at this price, so if you do music production or other memory-intensive creative work, it might hit the sweet spot. The Intel i5 processor has just six cores, but it’s capable. One note: this unit lacks an internal Wi-Fi antenna, but it comes with a USB dongle for internet access.

Apple Mac Mini Deal

If you’re an Apple aficionado, we gave an Editors’ Choice award to the 2024 Mac Mini in our review. Deploying the latest M4 processor, it’s an absolute speed demon in a pint-sized package, with tons of RAM for high-end creative programs, robust cooling and perfectly-placed USB-C ports. The biggest downside to this unit is the skimpy onboard storage, but it’s simple to either hook up an external drive or just keep all your files in your iCloud account. We feel that this is far and away the best mini desktop on the market, and Amazon has a pre-Prime Day discount of 9% to make it even cuter.

The MSI Codex Z2 is a great way to get into gaming with the visual power of Nvidia’s new 50-series graphics cards. The Ryzen 7 processor is speedy and stable, and the RAM loadout and storage meet expectations. The MSI case is well-built, with a tempered glass side panel, mesh front, and multiple RGB fans that keep the whole thing running frosty. A custom hardware button lets you cycle through LED programs with ease.

We gave an Editors’ Choice award to the Alienware Aurora R16 gaming desktop in our review, noting that it featured a new, subtler visual design that complements the potent internals with great cooling and stylish LED illumination. One of our biggest strong points was the whisper-quiet fans, which keep the components frosty no matter how hard you’re pushing that new 50-series Nvidia GPU with the new AI-optimized Blackwell architecture. While the 1TB internal drive is a little skimpy, saving $500 during Prime Day gives you plenty of extra cash to buy a beefy external SSD for your Steam library.

For something a little more budget-minded, you can slice $100 off of this surprisingly affordable Thermaltake prebuilt with a stylish white case boasting a tempered glass side panel, ARGB tower air cooler paired with a duo of RGB fans, and decent 1080p AMD components including a six-core Ryzen 5 5600 processor, RX 6600 graphics card that’s more than capable of titanic frame rates at HD resolution, and 16GB of DDR4 RAM. While you’re not getting 4K and fancy ray-tracing out of this one, it’s more than capable for a first gaming PC, especially at this price.
