Qbeast, a data optimization startup based in Bellevue, Wash., raised a $7.6 million seed round led by Peak XV’s Surge (formerly Sequoia Capital India).
- Qbeast helps customers optimize analytics on open data platforms such as Delta Lake and Apache Iceberg. It says its indexing layer can deliver 2-6X faster queries and up to 70% lower compute costs.
- The company is led by cloud infrastructure veteran Srikanth Satya, formerly of AWS and Microsoft Azure. His co-founder Flavio Junqueria was a senior engineer at Dell EMC and also spent time on research teams at Microsoft and Yahoo.
- HWK Tech Investment and Elaia Partners also invested in the seed round. Qbeast spun out of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center.
