This Week on Max: PCMag’s Picks
Horses & Hangmen (Aug. 29)
The new Dutch-language HBO Max original docuseries Horses & Hangmen follows one of the most mysterious cases in the Netherlands’ history. When seemingly normal family man Frank Dan Nørgaard Jørgensen vanishes from the small town where he lives, his family fears the worst. A few days later, his car is found burned out in a parking lot. The investigation reveals a terrifying conspiracy from some very unusual suspects.

Ruby & Jodi: A Cult of Sin and Influence (Sept. 1)
The world of mommyblogging is full of bizarre scandals and stories, and the new documentary series Ruby & Jodi: A Cult of Sin and Influence delves into one of the weirdest. When Mormon mom Ruby Franke hooked up with rogue counselor Jodi Hildebrandt, the duo briefly rose to fame before their disturbing disciplinary methods drew criticism, then arrests.
Rick and Morty: Season 8 (Sept. 1)
Adult Swim’s most popular show continues to rack up the wins. In the eighth season of Rick and Morty, our unscrupulous genius and his teenage companion get into lots more scraps featuring virtual realities, the Easter Bunny, and an entire planet full of their clones. This season has some of the best critical ratings the show’s had in a while, and it’s still a lot of fun.
