Six products announced in a single event, including the Korean giant’s very first connected glasses. The July Galaxy Unpacked promises to be the densest in Samsung history.
Samsung has not yet sent the invitations, but the program is leaking everywhere. The next Galaxy Unpacked will be held in London on July 22, 2026. On the menu: the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Flip 8 and a new “Wide” format for the Fold, the Galaxy Watch 9 series (probably accompanied by a Watch Ultra 2), and especially the brand’s first connected glasses, called Galaxy Glasses.
Why Samsung is launching screenless glasses while everyone is waiting for augmented reality
The Galaxy Glasses, known internally by the code name “Jinju,” won’t look like what sci-fi fans were hoping for. No holographic display, no augmented reality projected onto the lenses. Samsung has chosen a minimalist approach, modeled on that of Meta with its Ray-Bans: a classic frame equipped with a 12 megapixel cameraspeakers, microphones and on-board artificial intelligence (Gemini, not Bixby). The operating system will be Android XR, the platform that Google is developing for portable connected devices and that Samsung even inaugurated with its Galaxy XR.

There is nothing shy about the choice, it is a calculation. Meta holds a major share of the smart glasses market, and this dominance is based precisely on a screen-free product that people are willing to wear for several hours a day. Samsung is banking on the same comfort of use, by partnering with Gentle Monster, a Korean brand specializing in high-end frames, to take care of ergonomics (nose bridge, weight of the temples, finishes). The expected price would be between environ 380 and 500 euros for this first model, according to leaks. A version with integrated display, estimated between 600 and 900 euros, would come later.
Announced in July, but not necessarily on shelves before the fall
The Unpacked of July 22 would therefore combine at least six product categories, a record for Samsung. Three folding smartphones (Fold 8, Flip 8, Fold 8 Wide), two or three connected watches (Watch 9 and Watch Ultra 2) and glasses. There remains one important nuance: the announcement does not necessarily mean immediate sale. The Galaxy Glasses would be released “in the third quarter”, which leaves a window of July to September.
For French users, another calendar is superimposed. A high-definition camera coupled with a permanently active microphone and connected to artificial intelligence processing raises questions about GDPR compliance. Some analysts mention the need for a prior audit by the CNIL before any marketing in France, while the Commission warned at the beginning of the week about this emerging category of products.
Samsung has not yet communicated anything on this point. The Ray-Ban Meta itself took several months to arrive in Europe after its American launch. It remains to be seen whether the French market will see these glasses before the end of the year, or whether the GDPR will add a few months to the schedule.
