Rumors began to leak out last week that SAP wanted to make a strategic U-turn when it came to Cloud First. Wirtschaftswoche and Bloomberg reported, citing corporate circles, that Walldorfer was planning to make technical innovations in their business packages available again in the on-premises version in the future. The company will announce details at its customer trade fair in Orlando, Florida.
Just an interim solution
As was shown at the Sapphire, in Walldorf the food is not nearly as hot as the food is cooked. There can be no question of a strategic realignment; rather, SAP is only opening part of its AI offerings to on-premises customers – namely those who have already decided to move to the cloud.
And that only as a kind of interim solution, as Sebastian Steinhäuser explained during a press briefing. It makes no sense to withhold Joule and Joule Assistants from these customers, said SAP’s Chief Operating Officer.
