The angry customer shared her grievances online saying it took numerous calls and over a month before she was finally reimbursed the money.

Susan Swiatek took to Quora to share the painfully enraging turn of events, which left her $5,300 out of pocket and utterly “furious”.

Recounting her ordeal, the artist said it all started when she took her laptop to get fixed at a computer superstore.

When she was told there was no way of repairing it, she decided to buy a new one.

Before picking up the fresh laptop though, she told the salesman she first had to pick up the old one and pay a nominal fee.

He replied saying she could pay both charges at the same time.

However, when she got to the till to pay for her order and repair fees chaos ensued.

She recalled: “One guy says, I think we have to do two transactions. His friend says, no, we can ring them up together, no problem.

“So the second guy rings up the transaction(s) and hits a snag; he says, wait a minute, let me start over.

“He soon beckons the manager from the back who voids what the guy has done and starts it over, explaining, here’s how you’re supposed to do it, etc.”

In the end, she said she received a long receipt with the correct amount charged – $1,700.

Some 10 days later, however, she was met with a nasty surprise.

She said: “Fast forward to when I look online ten days later at my bank account. That day cost me $5300!

“I just happened to have a lot in my account at the time and the transaction just went through!”

Susan said the experience left her “furious” as she was forced to trudge back to the store and speak to the manager.

But her fury only deepened when she was told there was nothing he could do to help her because she didn’t have a receipt for the thousands of dollars.

He insisted she call the head office, which took “many” calls and speaking to people for “many” days.

She recalled them saying: “We’re sorry you were double-charged, but we refunded the amount.”

The whole ordeal took a staggering 45 days for Susan to get back all her overcharged money.
