Shure has introduced the MVX2U Gen 2, a compact single-channel digital audio interface that connects XLR microphones directly to smartphones, tablets, and desktops via USB-C.
The MVX2U Gen 2 can, according to Shure, bring professional recording capability to mobile workflows without requiring external preamps or additional power sources.
The device targets the growing segment of creators who record podcasts, livestreams, and field audio on the move, where the gap between studio-grade XLR microphone performance and the convenience of mobile recording has historically forced a compromise on either quality or portability.
Shure is positioning MVX2U Gen 2 as the lightest single-channel interface currently on the market, a claim that directly addresses the portability demands of creators who already carry professional-grade microphones like the SM7B or SM58 to events, conferences, and location shoots.
Up to 60dB of ultra clean gain and 48V phantom power handle both dynamic and condenser XLR microphones, covering the full range of professional recording hardware without requiring the creator to adapt their existing microphone setup around the interface’s limitations.
Three onboard processing features handle the most common recording environment problems automatically: Auto-Level Mode sets gain consistently without manual adjustment, a Real-Time Denoiser reduces background noise in unpredictable spaces, and the Digital Popper Stopper minimises harsh plosive sounds during vocal recording.

All audio processing runs at zero latency, and the interface stores the last-used DSP settings automatically, preserving a creator’s preferred sound profile when switching between a phone, tablet, and desktop across different recording sessions throughout the day.
Full sound customisation is available through Shure’s MOTIV app suite across iOS, Android, and desktop, giving users control over EQ, compression, limiting, and monitor mix presets, with DSP settings remaining active when recording through third-party or native camera applications.
A 3.5mm headphone jack supports zero-latency audio monitoring during recording, and a tri-colour LED indicator communicates microphone-to-device connection status at a glance, two features that reduce the friction of setting up quickly in unfamiliar recording environments.
The Shure MVX2U Gen 2 is available now for £139 / $139.
