NETFLIX has rolled out a major overhaul to the app on Sky TV devices making it easier than ever to find hidden gems you’ve missed.

The world’s most popular streaming platform – which boasts more than 300 million subscribers – unveiled a huge revamp back in May.

It includes better recommendations and an improved interface, the firm says.

The “new TV experience” marks the biggest redesign for Netflix in over ten years.

And The Sun can reveal that the overhaul is now making its way to Sky screens too.

We noticed that the new look is now available on Sky Glass – it’s unclear whether it’s available on Sky Stream or Sky Q yet.

The first thing viewers will notice is how everything looks a lot bigger, with a near full screen recommended show or movie on the home screen and a simpler navigation bar along the top.

Here you’ll find four options: Home, Series, Films and My Netflix, as well as a search icon and the user profile in the top left corner.

Netflix says it’ll be serving up “responsive recommendations”.

That means as you’re watching and browsing through Netflix, fresh recommendation rows will be “served up in real time”.

“Your homepage will respond to your viewing and browsing history,” Netflix explains.

“So you can quickly find something that suits your mood in the moment.”

Huge all-star reality show renewed for a fourth season before the third has even aired

The My Netflix page is an evolution of the old My List.

Your bookmarked shows and movies will continue to appear on My List under My Netflix, but the page also has extra content now, such as continue watching, anything you’ve previously liked and reminders.

And categories is no longer a standalone menu option – instead you’ll find these tucked away under the search page.

The reaction to Netflix’s shake-up hasn’t all gone down well since rolling out a couple of months ago on other devices.

Some have described it as “unusable”, “garbage” and “nauseating” on social media.

“The categories no longer make sense and it feels like I’m just scrolling through random chaos with no direction,” one person wrote on Reddit.

“Over the last few days I have tried to use Netflix thinking I may adjust but I just can’t.

“I no longer wish to even open the app.

“I’ll probably be cancelling my Netflix subscription if they don’t change it back.”

Get more quality TV for free

By Jamie Harris, Assistant Technology and Science Editor

If you’re tired of paying out on several streaming services like Netflix and Disney+ then there are a growing number of free alternatives around.

While many of these alternatives have been filled with obscure content, more big names like Sky have got on board in recent years offering some quality stuff, which is largely archive but still entertaining.

As well as UKTV, Sony and 5 are among the other players getting involved.

If you haven’t already, give Pluto TV a go, it’s available on pretty much all devices including Fire TV Sticks.

On there you’ll find channels from MTV, with Catfish and Geordie Shore.

Some of the classics are real gems too – I found myself watching long-forgotten episodes of Sabrina the Teenage Witch the other day.
