SKY TV is axing two channels tomorrow as part of a major overhaul of its TV line-up, with dozens of changes being rolled out across its platform.

The shake-up includes permanent channel closures, number changes and recent rebrands as Sky continues to update its services.

From January 13, HGTV will close permanently.

The lifestyle channel currently appears on Satellite UK 158 & ROI 162, and on Sky Glass & Stream UK 153 & ROI 149.

Its timeshift service HGTV +1 (Satellite UK 258 & ROI 262) will also shut down for good.

First 2026 Sky TV guide changes revealed as two channels REPLACED already

TLC HD and TLC+1 have been relaunched as free-to-air channels, meaning they’re now available without an Entertainment subscription on Sky satellite.

Several other channels are moving to new numbers from 15 January, including Quest, Food Network, Discovery Turbo and Discovery History, which will all appear in different places on the Sky guide depending on your package and region.

There have also been other recent changes to Sky’s TV line-up.

Over the Christmas period themed channels such as Sky Harry Potter and Sky Jurassic Park reverted back to their standard identities as Sky Family HD and Sky Action HD after the festive season.

The ongoing overhaul follows a broader trend of channel closures and rebrands.

In late 2025, music channels like MTV Music and Club MTV, along with kids’ favourites such as Pop, Tiny Pop and their timeshift services, were removed from the Sky guide as part of a substantial reduction in linear TV services.

Sky subscribers have been advised that most of these updates will happen automatically overnight.

If any channels look missing or out of place, a quick reboot of your Sky box should refresh the Electronic Programme Guide.
