Sony has just dropped the WF-1000XM6 earbuds and our reviewer was full of praise for the active noise cancellation. However, if you’re really looking to cocoon yourself you’ll need to opt for the WH-1000XM6 over-ear headphones.

The good news is they’re on sale for the President’s Day holiday in the United States. That means you can block out the president’s constant bile spewing more easily, if you wish.

Right now you can grab the Sony WH-1000XM6 headphones for $398 over at Amazon. That’s a $62 saving on the $460 asking price. The earphones are available in four colours with black, midnight blue, sand pink and platinum silver options available.

Just like their earbud counterparts, the WH-1000XM6 earned a five-star review from Stuff.tv. Our reviewer called them the “new gold standard for noise-cancelling headphones” in our May 2025 review.

He praised the return of the folding design for improved portability, the “incredible” noise cancellation and exceptional sound quality. He was also high on the intuitive touch controls and the range of customisation options present within the app. Our tester wasn’t so keen on the premium price, but the President’s Day sale rectifies that somewhat.

“The Sony WH-1000XM6 represent exactly what a flagship headphone update should be – thoughtful refinements that address user feedback, while pushing technical boundaries even further,” he wrote.

“The return of the folding design alone will be enough to sway many XM4 users who never upgraded to the XM5, while the dramatically improved noise cancellation and subtle sound enhancements make these the most complete package Sony has ever delivered.”
