Telefónica has signed an agreement with IT provider Mavenir Systems Limitedspecialized in telecommunications, cloud-native tools and systems and with AI integrated from the design; to create an innovation center in the field of AI. It will be a collaborative laboratory designed to accelerate the integration of said technology in the evolution of the network core.
This center, AI Innovation Hub, will serve as a real testbed for the development, validation and optimization of advanced capabilities. These include AI-powered autonomous network orchestration, Internet-based service development, and AI-enabled monetization frameworks.
The hub will emulate production traffic patterns in a controlled environment, allowing Telefónica and Mavenir to test and refine next-generation solutions before large-scale commercial deployment. The collaboration, therefore, represents a move towards an era of intelligent, autonomous and autonomously optimized telecommunication networks, with systems that continuously learn, anticipate and adapt in real time.
For Telefónica, furthermore, this initiative represents progress in its path of converting its network into a digital platform with a high level of autonomy and aware of intention, capable of intuitively understanding the needs of companies and consumers, predicting them before they occur and translating these intentions into planned and automated network actions.
The collaboration will also promote practices related to AI, data security and regulatory compliance, in addition to promoting joint marketing initiatives, technical leadership and active participation in global industry forums. Both Telefónica and Mavenir will develop new business models, align with operating units and accelerate the development and launch of native AI solutions in the core of the network.
