Back-to-school shopping can be a costly expense for Americans.
Last year, the average household budget for school supplies was $874.68, per Capital One Shopping.
Per child, it was around $586 for K-12 items, according to data from the United States Federal Credit Union.
Savings are needed more than ever this time around, and retailers like Aldi are offering it on hundreds of products at its over 2,500 locations nationwide.
Not only do kids need pencils, notebooks, and other gear, but they may also be outgrowing their clothes.
In August, Aldi is offering the Lily & Dan Childrens Multicolored and White Ankle Socks for $4.99 each.
That’s a start on the savings, at least.
For play or drawing breaks during or after school, there are more options.
Hinkler Sticker Activity Books are $3.99, Hot Wheels Cars are $1.99 a piece, and the Curious Universe Kaleidoscope Coloring Kits are $7.99.
The activity books, Hot Wheels, and coloring kits all come in different variations depending on what consumers prefer.
Willow Facial Tissue for $1.45 is also in Aldi’s Back to School Supplies section on its website for the sniffles, along with Boulder Premium All Occasion Napkins for cleanup at $2.55 for a 100-count pack.
Kirkton House’s Mini Collapsible Crates in Navy, Orchid, and Vanilla coloring options can also hold pencils, pens, erasers, and more with ease at a price of just $9.99.
Six-Piece Robots Shaped Highlighters and Six-Piece Heart Shaped Highlighters from Smile! are also $2.99 each this week at Aldi.
Space, Princess, Animals, and Food Pens are $2.99 as well, with the rest of the must-haves listed below.

GROWING STRONG
Aldi also has massive expansion plans in the works this year.
By the end of 2025, there expected to be at least 225 new locations under the retailer’s banner.
It would be the most stores opened in a single year by a supermarket chain in the United States.
Long-term, Aldi seeks at least 800 new locations by 2028.
At least 36 are set to open soon across 12 states, including Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, and Maryland.
Aldi also recently acquired Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarkets, adding about 400 stores to its portfolio in the deal.
Shoppers have also urged Aldi to bring back a Walmart-style shopping cart after it was removed.
Some customers were also able to snag a Stanley Cup dupe on the retailer’s shelves this summer for just $7.99.
