The Galaxy S26 Ultra could copy the iPhone 17 Pro in a very obvious way

The Samsung Galaxy S26 series is expected to debut sometime in the new year, and as the anticipated launch draws closer, naturally a lot more leaks have started to emerge about the phones. The latest leak circulating about the Galaxy S26 Ultra may raise a lot of eyebrows, and for good reason.

According to a leaked image posted on Reddit, Samsung may be copying the cosmic orange color that first appeared on the iPhone 17 Pro for the Galaxy S26 Ultra (via 9to5Google). In the image shared on Reddit, three alleged dummy units of the S26 Ultra are visible, with the left one being silver, the middle one orange, and the right one gold. The orange color, of course, instantly drew comparisons to the iPhone 17 Pro’s cosmic orange, due to their similar appearance.

The iPhone 17 Pro was released at the end of September, and since it’s one of the first phones to prominently feature a bright orange color, it’s challenging for Samsung to avoid the “copying Apple” accusations here. Of course, this is just a leaked image, so Samsung might not be going down this route at all, and it could be fake. However, it’s hard to ignore how the dummy unit in the photo resembles leaked designs of the S26 Ultra, which Android Headlines recently showcased, with the camera bump reminiscent of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 being the most notable design change.

Personally, I don’t mind the iPhone 17 Pro’s cosmic orange color, and I think it’s a refreshing change for the lineup. However, reactions to the color have been very mixed, with some people liking the bold, bright hue for a pro model iPhone for once, while others don’t like it at all and would have preferred Apple to release a black color option. When it comes to the leaked orange color for the Galaxy S26 Ultra, it seems users on Reddit are less upset about the color and more concerned about the fact that the company may be blatantly copying Apple here.

“Almost every huge phone company is trying to be like Apple, originality is dead,” one Redditor wrote. Another Redditor commented, “Samsung is totally Apple’s copycat. What a shame.”

Reaction to it isn’t all negative, though, with one Redditor saying, “Orange is my favorite color and I’ve been waiting for an Orange Galaxy. Probably just me though.”

A couple of Redditors pointed out that this wouldn’t be the first time Samsung had made an orange Galaxy phone, as it had released an orange titanium S24 Ultra. However, it was an online exclusive, and not widely available, and much paler than the cosmic orange seen on the iPhone 17 Pro and in this leaked image of an alleged S26 Ultra dummy unit. Again, it’s important to note that this is a leaked image, so it’s not confirmed that Samsung is actually making an orange S26 Ultra.

You turn any phone into cosmic orange now

dbrand to the rescue

As Monty Python taught me, it’s always best to look on the bright side of life, and I can’t help but find this leak about the S26 Ultra possibly copying Apple’s cosmic orange colorway amusing, given how obvious it is. However, in all fairness, the orange color on the S26 Ultra dummy unit actually looks quite nice, and if Samsung releases it, I wouldn’t be too disappointed.

Additionally, if you’re a fan of orange, you don’t even need to wait for Samsung to possibly release an orange S26 Ultra or buy the cosmic orange iPhone 17 Pro, as dbrand has already copied Apple on its own accord by releasing an orange skin with the exact same name as Apple’s orange colorway. dbrand describes its new cosmic orange skin as a “flawlessly colormatched knock-off” and as “Cosmic Orange, now available for the unprofessional.”

Looking at all the devices that dbrand has applied its cosmic orange skin on, such as the Steam Deck, Google Pixel, and the Switch 2, I’m impressed with how they look so far. Maybe Samsung could ask them for advice about the colors for the S26 Ultra.
