That’s a major £80.99 discount compared to the smartwatch and fitness tracker’s £259.99 RRP. It’s also the lowest we’ve seen this model fall since it launched toward the end of 2023, making this the perfect time to snatch it up for less.

Is the Garmin Vivoactive 5 worth buying?

A well-rounded sports watch

  • Sharp AMOLED colour screen

  • Solid sports tracking modes

  • Well integrated smartwatch features

  • Watch UI still needs some refining

  • Can’t track elevation like Vivoactive 4

  • Misses out on useful Training Readiness metric

The Vivoactive 5 is a mid-range smartwatch and sports tracker from Garmin.

The wearable boasts a large, bright AMOLED touchscreen, more than 30 built-in sports apps for a wide array activities (including walking, running, cycling, HIIT and swimming, to name a few), a wheelchair mode that tracks pushes rather than steps, sleep tracking and a Body Battery feature that offers personalised insights to feedback when you need to rest and recover.

The watch includes a good range of health tracking features, including heart rate monitoring, stress tracking, menstrual cycle and pregnancy tracking, a morning report and your fitness age. There’s even automatic nap detection to help you understand how naps affect your Body Battery.

Of course, you also get the smartwatch capabilities you’d expect, including emails, texts and alerts when paired with an iPhone or Android device, along with the ability to respond to texts and view photo messages for Android users only.

Finally, the up to 11 days of battery life in smartwatch mode ensure you can go days between charges when needed.

Michael Sawh recommends the Vivoactive 5 to anyone looking for a good mix of sports watch and smartwatch capabilities, praising its sharp AMOLED colour display, solid sports tracking modes and well-integrated smartwatch features.

“If you’re looking for a watch at a mid range price that performs well for sports tracking and offers good core smartwatch features, the Vivoactive 5 delivers that”, he wrote in our 4/5-star review of the wearable.
