Under Apple ownership, Beats have remained a surprisingly relevant brand, making for perhaps the only earbuds/headphones that play nice with both iPhones and Android phones. The latest Powerbeats Fit are here, and they look pretty nice.
Beats has just announced the Powerbeats Fit, its latest range of fitness-focused wireless earbuds. The new model features a redesigned flexible wingtip and a more compact charging case, aiming to improve comfort and stability when you’re exercising. The earbuds have a universal secure-fit wingtip, which has been made 20% more flexible to enhance in-ear comfort and stability. To accommodate different ear sizes, the earbuds come with four interchangeable ear tip sizes: extra-small, small, medium, and large. Both the earbuds and the new charging case have an IPX4 rating for sweat and water resistance, making them suitable for workouts in various conditions. The charging case itself is 17% smaller than the one for the Beats Fit Pro.
Under the hood, the Powerbeats Fit is built with a custom acoustic platform and proprietary drivers. The earbuds support Personalized Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking for compatible music, movies, and games. They also feature Adaptive EQ, which uses microphones to measure what the listener hears and adjusts the sound output based on the fit and seal of the earbuds. For managing ambient sound, the earbuds are equipped with Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) to block external noise and a Transparency mode that allows users to hear their surroundings.
Like other Apple-made audio hardware, the Powerbeats Fit features the Apple H1 chip. This means that the Powerbeats Fit offers friction-less integration for iOS users, including features like Automatic Switching between devices, Audio Sharing, hands-free “Hey Siri” activation, and support for the Find My network. Just like what’d you get from AirPods. But these are also Android-friendly, on brand with other Beats hardware. Android users can use the Beats app to access one-touch pairing, customize controls, check battery status, and use the Locate My Beats and Fit Test features. On-device controls allow users to manage music, adjust volume, switch listening modes, and handle calls. Call quality is handled by dual beam-forming microphones and an internal processor designed to reduce background noise.
The Powerbeats Fit provides up to 7 hours of listening time per charge, with the charging case extending the total to 30 hours. With ANC activated, the earbuds offer 6 hours of playback, for a total of 24 hours with the case. A “Fast Fuel” feature provides up to an hour of playback from a 5-minute charge.
These earbuds cost a cool $200, which isn’t a lot seeing the price of the AirPods Pro 3 and you also get a lot of features in here. They are now available for purchase on Apple’s website, and they will ship from October 2nd.
