Xiaomi may be gearing up to expand its accessory lineup again, and this time, it looks like an Apple AirTag rival is on the way.

According to a new leak on Weibo, the company is preparing a Bluetooth tracker reportedly called the Xiaomi Tag, positioning it as a direct alternative to Apple’s AirTag and the growing wave of trackers built for Google’s Find My Device network.

Although the Xiaomi Tag has already appeared in regulatory filings, details are still pretty thin. However, the latest tip suggests the tracker will launch alongside other accessories like the Xiaomi Watch 5 or S5 and Buds 6, most likely during the Xiaomi 17 Ultra event on December 26, 2025.

While Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed specs, the tracker is expected to support UWB (Ultra Wideband), the same precision-finding tech used by AirTag and Google-compatible trackers. That alone would give it an advantage in close-range locating, especially if Xiaomi ties it into the wider Find My Device network. Full offline tracking support would put it on similar footing to AirTag, but without locking users into the Apple ecosystem.

If Xiaomi does lean into the Google network, it joins an increasingly competitive space. Trackers like Chipolo Loop, Pebblebee’s Clip 5, and Motorola’s Moto Tag already offer cross-platform tracking and UWB-powered precision finding. The difference, though, is pricing, and that’s where Xiaomi typically undercuts everyone else. A more affordable UWB tracker with access to Google’s network could be an easy sell for Android users who want reliable location tracking without paying AirTag-level prices.

For now, the Xiaomi Tag exists mostly through leaks, but the timing makes sense. With more Android phones supporting UWB and Google’s tracking network finally stabilising, Xiaomi has the right ecosystem to drop a compelling AirTag competitor. And if the company sticks to its usual pricing strategy, this could be the tracker that pushes mainstream Android users to finally adopt item tracking en masse.

We should learn more once the Xiaomi 17 Ultra event kicks off later this month.
