Ahead of the OnePlus 15R’s global debut, OnePlus is already looking further down the road, and potentially much bigger.
The company has started teasing a brand-new OnePlus Turbo series, and if early leaks are anything to go by, battery life could be the defining feature.
The reveal came during OnePlus’ anniversary celebrations, where company president Li Jie Louis confirmed that a new Turbo lineup is in the works. Details were light, but the positioning was clear: these phones are meant to lead their price segment in performance, gaming and endurance. That alone hints at a more specialised, power-focused device rather than a conventional flagship.
Leaks have since filled in some of the blanks. According to well-known tipster Smart Pikachu, OnePlus is planning to launch two Turbo models in 2026, each reportedly packing batteries around the 9,000mAh mark. That’s a figure that would make even today’s battery champs look modest by comparison.
If true, this would place the OnePlus Turbo squarely in competition with devices like the Redmi Turbo series, suggesting large displays, aggressive performance tuning and gaming-first priorities. It also reinforces the idea that OnePlus is experimenting with phones that push specific specs to extremes, rather than chasing thinness or minimalism.
Of course, there are caveats; the biggest is that phones with batteries this large often remain China-exclusive due to shipping regulations in regions like the EU that limit how big a battery can be. There’s also the question of balance. While a 9,000mAh battery sounds impressive, it could come at the cost of weight, thickness or charging times.
Still, for users who value multi-day endurance above all else, the OnePlus Turbo could be tapping into a growing demand. Whether this is sensible innovation or pure excess remains to be seen — but either way, OnePlus seems keen to find out just how far it can push things.
