Early last year, Kuxiu released its X33 Pro Max iPad stand. It was the first stand to incorporate pin connectors into a magnetic stand to be able to charge your iPad. It was a fantastic idea. As a stand, it’s built very well, is high quality, does everything you need a stand to do, and gets the job done, but the fact that it also instantly charges the iPad was a game-changer for my setups. But now, they’ve brought the same tech but into your car with a mountable, magnetically charging iPad stand. Here is what you need to know.
Specs and what’s in the box
Kuxiu gives you everything you need to get this installed and installed so easily no matter what car you are in. In the box you get:
- X97 Pro Max magnetic charging plate
- Rear headrest mount (the one I used)
- Air vent mount clip
- Braided 1M USB-C cable

Then, it fits the bill nicely regarding charging and sizing specs.
- Charges the iPad at 18W when mounted
- Fully adjustable with a 65mm telescopic arm and a tilt/swivel ball joint
- Works in portrait and landscape
- Headrest rod distance fits between 55mm and 155mm in distance
- The metal plate is covered in a leather-textured surface to protect the iPad and car seat
Again, you get everything you need, and the materials feel very premium. What I like is that they give you the option to mount it on a headrest so someone in the back can take advantage of it, or you can mount it to a car vent for someone who wants to upgrade their dash! I was a bit worried that the cable length might have been too short, but I had more than enough slack to get it plugged in and alsoto tuck the cable away.

My experience
I had two main questions when I got this. My first question was, how difficult will this be to install? The second question was, how strong are these magnets? The last thing I want is to hit a rough bump and the iPad goes flying and hits my daughter in the face!
Installation
This part was dead simple. I went with the headrest mounting instead of the air vent because, again, this is for the rear seat passengers. The rear headrest mount uses a spring-loaded clamp, so there’s no fiddling with screws or tools. It probably took me less than 60 seconds to get this setup. I first mounted the clamp and then the metal plate attaches with a ball joint. So I just placed it on there, adjusted to my desired angle and then tightened it up. Easy, simple and quick.

How we used it
My idea with this was to use it for road trips. We tend to drive from New Jersey to Florida a few times a year, and we have a three-year-old. We try to distract her as much as possible, but some screen time on a 2-day road trip is inevitable. I’m not opposed to the screen time, but I am not a fan of just handing over an iPad to a toddler and letting them do whatever they want. So I thought this mount would be perfect because she could still watch her Bluey and other Disney movies, but the iPad wouldn’t be in her hands. So it avoids the constant interaction with the iPad and keeps it at a good eye level, so she’s not looking down and causing neck strain. As a parent, it makes me feel a bit more in control.
The fear I had of the iPad popping off is non-existent. The magnets on this thing are insanely strong. I used it with my M4 iPad Pro, and at no point was I worried about it falling off. They almost did too good of a job with their magnet strength.
I also think that the iPad car dash use case would be cool here, depending on your current car’s infotainment system. If someone has a car that’s a bit older and they want to bring some 2025 tech to their dash, this would be an amazing use case. Pair that with cellular data on your iPad and you can have google maps and spotify running on your iPad through your car.
Pricing, compatibility and availability
The Kuxiu X97 Magnetic car mount is available today and on sale on Kuxiu’s site for $79, usually $109. Now, when it comes to compatibility, check the here or chart below:

Make sure to use the drop-down menu on the site to select the correct iPad, because some iPads have different magnet arrays. For example, the M3 iPad Air version works with older iPad Pros but does not work with the M4 iPad Pro. So, just something to keep in mind.
Final take
Like I said in the beginning, Kuxiu nailed this magnetic charging stand form factor with the X33 Pro Max. Now they’ve brought all that tech into your car, making it super convenient to use your iPad in the car while keeping it charged up. Whether you’re a parent looking to entertain kids on the go, or just someone who wants a high-end tablet experience in the car, the Kuxiu X97 is absolutely worth considering.
