When Apple rolled out Vehicle Motion Cues, it made my kinetosis much more manageable, but didn’t fully fix it. With iOS 26, a new adjustment finally did the trick.
iOS 26 features customizable Vehicle Motion Cues
I never experienced motion sickness as a kid, but things started to change as I got older. Just in the last few years, I’ve gone from being able to read an entire book to turning green just by reading a few text messages in the back of an Uber.
Fortunately, I didn’t have to live with this for too long, as Apple released Vehicle Motion Cues last year on the iPhone and iPad, and extended it to the Mac with macOS Tahoe 26.
However, despite considerably improving the instant rush of motion sickness I started feeling in these last few years as soon as I tried to read anything inside a moving car, the feature didn’t fully solve the problem. (Could I, you know, stop reading stuff? Sure. But sometimes I need to, so here we are.)
With iOS 26, Apple introduced new customization options for Vehicle Motion Cues, including color and visibility adjustments.

Users can now choose from six color options in addition to the standard grayscale setting, and they can also increase dot visibility and the amount displayed on screen.
There is also a new “Dynamic” motion pattern setting, which displays the dots in a more chaotic manner, while still reflecting the overall motion picked up by the device’s sensors.
To customize Vehicle Motion Cues, go to Settings > Accessibility > Motion > Vehicle Motion Cues > Customize Appearance.
