Online speculation rife over hack

One X user claims zero work has been done on the site since founder Christopher Poole – aka “Moot” – left in 2015 to join Google as an adviser on its new social products.

Another claims the person who hacked the site “dumped the entire database” while others have speculated that the bad formatting of the site led to the hack.

Rise in reports

There has been a slight increase in the number of complaints about the site in the past few minutes, according to Downdetector.

You can follow us here for all the latest updates and user reaction.

Reports indicate problems ongoing following reported hack

Downdetector data shows 71% of reported issues relate directly to the website, with continuing updates indicating the problem is ongoing.

The platform has long been at the centre of online controversies, including the 2014 leak of intimate celebrity photos, known widely as “The Fappening,” which included images of actress Jennifer Lawrence.

There is no official word from 4Chan’s administrators at this time. Users are being advised to monitor trusted sources for updates.

Speculation over hack and consequences

Social media users are continuing to speculate about the hacking of the controversial website – and the consequences.

One claims the person who hacked the site “dumped the entire database” while others have speculated that the bad formatting of the site led to the hack.

‘History in the making’

Social media users – this time on Reddit – have conflicting opinions on the seriousness of the hack.

Some say it’s monumental – some say it’s minimal, with one believing “nothing will come of this”, and another posting “it’s history in the making”.

Time will tell.

‘Old code – time to update’

4Chan users are calling for the code to be updated to prevent any further hacks.
