WhatsApp has released a new update for iOS users, bringing the app version to 25.27.73, introducing a significant enhancement to the Calls tab. The update will offer a unified call hub that will streamline how voice and video calls are accessed and managed.
The feature is currently rolling out to a limited group of users, however, the tech giant promises to improve the communication efficiently across all platforms.
A Centralized Hub for Calls
WhatsApp is working on a new update to consolidate all call-related actions into a single interface. This will make it easier for users to initiate, schedule, and manage calls on the app. Earlier, if you need to access the dialer, start a new call, or manage contacts, then it required the, to navigate through multiple screens.
Now, the new hub allows quick access to these features directly from the Calls tab, reducing the steps needed to connect with friends, family, or colleagues.
Quick Access to Calls and Scheduling
After this update, iOS users will be able to start calls instantly using a dedicated shortcut. This will be similar to the Plus (+) button. The hub will support both one-on-one calls and group calls along with supporting up to 31 participants.
In addition, users can also schedule calls in advance and share the event in a chat. This will ensure that everyone is involved and informed. This combination of instant and planned calling makes the hub useful for both personal and professional interactions.
Dialer and Business Verification
The upcoming update also introduces shortcut to the dialer, allowing users to call any WhatsApp registered number without saving it as a contact. This feature includes verification for business accounts, ensuring users can trust the authenticity of the contacts they reach out to. The dialer simplifies the process of connecting with new numbers and makes managing calls more straightforward.
Enhanced Favorite Contacts Management
Favorites remain a core part of the Calls tab but are now better integrated within the hub. Users can easily add, remove, or reorder favorite contacts, enabling faster voice or video calls. This personalization makes it simple to connect with the people contacted most frequently, similar to a speed dial feature.
Rollout and Availability
Currently, the unified call hub is available to a limited number of iOS users who have updated to version 25.27.73. WhatsApp plans a gradual rollout, with broader access expected in the coming weeks. Users are advised to keep their app updated to enjoy the new interface as it becomes available.
