Chinese phone maker Vivo recently launched an independent robotics lab, which primarily focuses on home robots. According to Vivo’s recruitment page, the company is hiring a chief scientist of robotics and is looking for an individual who has outstanding achievements in embodied intelligence or robotics and has the ability to lead a research team. While the company is entering the home robotics market, it will not develop full-body hardware but will focus on the “brain” (AI) and “eyes” (vision) of robots, Vivo’s Executive Vice President Hu Baishan said yesterday. As early as December 2023, Hu revealed that Vivo planned to enter the humanoid robotics sector. [Vivo recruitment page, in Chinese]
