Did you know that fashion designer Tom Ford is also a director behind two feature films? No ? Well know that he is preparing third, and not the least. After A Single Man in 2009 and Nocturnal Animals in 2016, the stylist returned behind the camera to adapt the novel Cry to Heaven d’Anne Rice. The public will recognize the author for Interview with a Vampirepublished in 1976.
At our place, Cry to Heaven was published in 1982 under the title The Voice of Angels. The story it tells takes place in 18th century Italy, as a Venetian nobleman and a Calabrian maestro desperately try to make a name for themselves in the world of Opera. Fans of historical dramas will therefore not fail to find what they are looking for, but this adaptation project is already surprising and for a completely different reason.
Tom Ford managed to put together a truly surprising cast of stars to bring this cult novel to life. While waiting for the start of filming scheduled in London and Rome next January, here are the actors and celebrities whose presence on the bill has already been confirmed.
Adele is finally interested in cinema
After 17 years of a successful career in music, British singer Adele is taking on her first role for the big screen. The attribution of the different characters in the novel has not yet been revealed, but we can at least say that the artist will be very well supported on this project.
Indeed, the casting of this adaptation also welcomes Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ciarán Hinds, George MacKay, Mark Strong, Colin Firth, Paul Bettany, Hunter Schafer, as well as the young Owen Cooper won the Emmy Awards for his role in the Netflix series Adolescence. Among the other names linked to the project and revealed by the Hollywood Reporter, we also distinguish Lux Pascal, which turns out to be none other than the sister of the famous Pedro Pascal.
Despite a start of filming scheduled for mid-January 2026, the film adaptation of The Voice of the Angels by Tom Ford should enter cinemas in the fall of 2026.
