Next year, Disney+ and Hulu will merge into a single streaming service, but for now, they’re still two separate entities that share some programming. September is pretty strong on the Disney side; it has Marvel and Star Wars representation with new animated series, plus shows for tots, tweens, and grown-ups as well. Here are our picks for the best of the month on Disney+.

Lilo & Stitch (Sept. 3)

Whatever your thoughts on Disney’s obsessive desire to release live-action remakes of every single one of their animated classics, Lilo & Stitch is pretty fun. While the original had a very distinctive visual style that reality can’t replicate, the CGI space monsters are fun, and the acting is solid. There’s already a sequel in development, so it must have done well at the box office.

  • Director: Dean Fleischer Camp

  • Cast: Sydney Agudong, Chris Sanders, Maia Kealoha

  • Genre: Family

  • Rating: PG

  • IMDb Rating: 6.8/10

Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past (Sept. 19)

Our block-based pals from a galaxy far away return for a new adventure. Sig Greebling and Darth Dev must combine forces despite being on opposite ends of the Jedi ideological spectrum to stop a new threat from dismantling the galaxy. The original 2024 series was a lot of fun, and this one sees all the original cast returning, as well as a special guest appearance by Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker.

Marvel Zombies (Sept. 24)

The latest animated series from the Marvel cinematic universe jets off to yet another alternate reality, this one where a mysterious contagion transforms the heroes and villains (and civilians) of the comic books into flesh-eating revenants. It’s the first TV-MA-rated series from Marvel Animation and features a massive voice cast pulled from the movies. The single season drops today, and it’s just four episodes.
