The F1: The Movie has made a big splash at the box office at movie theaters around the world, and is now available to buy or rent at stores including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and more. The film is being distributed in partnership with Warner Bros. But as a fully financed Apple Original production, it will end up streaming on Apple TV+. Here’s the expected streaming release date.

Apple has not officially announced further release plans yet, as the company is obviously currently focused on making the cinema run as successful as possible, and raking in some more money through video on demand channels.

The film has been a breakout theatrical hit, approaching $600 million at the worldwide box office. Typically, films that do well in theaters make a bigger splash when they hit streaming. In the meantime, Apple can use its cut of box office ticket sales and VOD purchases to offset the film’s hefty production cost, estimated at $250m.

As such, Apple has not announced a streaming date yet.

However, we can look at previous rollouts to get a good idea of the release date for streaming the movie at home. Studios generally stick to consistent release window periods for all their big releases.

F1: The Movie premiered in theaters in the United States on June 27. Apple gave it a two month exclusivity in cinemas before debuting in the premium video-on-demand window.

We can then expect PVOD exclusivity will last for a month or two. After which, F1: The Movie will then stream on Apple TV+. This means people waiting to watch it home at no extra charge will likely be waiting until late September or October 2025 to stream it.

The exact release date depends ultimately on Apple, but the company is highly incentivised to get it out before Christmas and make a big streaming splash this winter on the service.
