This weekend the regulation of Hoy No Circula Saturday is put into operation again, the device through which the Secretariat of the Environment of Mexico City (SEDEMA) restricts the transit of certain cars to control pollution rates in the Metropolitan Area of the Valley of Mexico.
Before getting behind the wheel, each driver must check their license plate and verification sticker. The restrictions cover not only the 16 municipalities of CDMX, but also various neighboring municipalities in the State of Mexico. The regulations operate in the same way in:
- Atizapan of Zaragoza
- Coacalco de Berriozábal
- Cuautitlan
- Cuautitlán Izcalli
- Chalco
- Chicoloapan
- Chimalhuacan
- Ecatepec de Morelos
- Huixquilucan
- Ixtapaluca
- Peace
- Naucalpan de Juárez
- Nezahualcoyotl
- Nicolas Romero
- Tecámac
- World of Baz
- Tultitlan
- Chalco Valley
On the other hand, consider that if your route crosses any of these areas, the Saturday No Circula Today rules will also affect you.

What cars and license plates does Hoy No Circula Saturday affect?
The essential objective of this scheme is to reduce the number of vehicles on the streets to mitigate harmful emissions, establishing specific rules on Saturdays that complement the operation used from Monday to Friday. The obligation to rest does not apply equally to all drivers each weekend: the combination of the hologram, the last digit of the license plate and the categorization of Saturday as an even or odd week determine who must remain parked and who has a free way.
It must be remembered that the Saturday Hoy No Circula does not operate for 24 consecutive hours of the day. The restriction window is set between 5:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., so that at night or in the early hours of the morning there are no impediments to circulation, unless the authorities decree an environmental contingency phase or another extraordinary indication that establishes additional limits.
For him July 25, 2026the calendar indicates that it is the fourth Saturday of the month, formally classifying it as an “even week.” Under this scheme, cars equipped with hologram 1 whose license plates end in an even number will have to remain off the road during the hours that the program lasts.

If your car registers this combination, you must leave it stored until the 10:00 p.m. cutoff passes. In contrast, cars with hologram 0 and 00 have free transit within the guidelines of Today Not Circulating Saturday. For their part, vehicles with hologram 2 are not allowed to circulate on any Saturday of the year.
Along with the rules set forth, we must remember that there is a set of exempt vehicles that can move freely without receiving penalties. Among them are:
- Electric, natural gas or hybrid technology vehicles
- Units registered with plates for people with disabilities
- All those intended for urban public transport services (including funeral services)
- Those dedicated to school or passenger transportation
- Those assigned to public security and/or civil protection
The penalty for not complying with this regulation ranges from 20 to 30 times the Measurement and Update Unit (UMA), a range that approximately translates into a floor of 1,924.40 pesos and a ceiling of 2,886.60 pesos. Added to the hit to the pocket, the offender risks having the vehicle towed or detained and the consequent loss of time involved in solving the administrative procedure before the security forces. What cars and license plates does Hoy No Circula Saturday affect?
Failure to comply with the Hoy No Circula will be punished with a fine that ranges between 20 and 30 times the value of the Measurement and Update Unit (UMA), a figure that represents approximately 1,924.40 pesos at its lowest level until reaching 2,886.60 pesos at the highest limit. In addition, the driver risks having the car taken to the vehicle depot.
