Key Takeaways
- StreamSaver bundles Netflix, Peacock, and Apple TV+ for a discounted price of $15 a month.
- The bundle is exclusively available to Comcast and/or Xfinity customers and will officially launch in late May 2024.
- Compared to Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery’s upcoming bundle, StreamSaver remains more attractive to current Comcast customers.
I love streaming video, but with each new streaming service added, it becomes harder to decide which to subscribe to and which to leave out.
To combat this difficult choice, many media and communication companies have started offering bundles. Comcast’s StreamSaver bundle is one of the latest to hit our screens, but is this new bundle worth the money?
What Is Comcast’s StreamSaver Bundle?
Hot on the heels of Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery’s announcement that they’d soon be bundling Disney+, Hulu, and Max, Comcast/Xfinity has come along with an even more attractive deal. Called the StreamSaver, this upcoming bundle will combine Netflix, Peacock, and Apple TV+ subscriptions for one low price: Just $15 a month on top of an existing Comcast plan.
Comcast—who also owns NBCUniversal and, in turn, Peacock—made sure to clarify that the StreamSaver bundle is only available to Comcast and/or Xfinity customers. If you aren’t already an internet, TV, or phone subscriber, then you’ll need to become one to get this bundle upon its launch. Now TV subscribers also qualify for the deal. (Comcast already offered Disney+ and ESPN+ on Xfinity.)
With Netflix currently priced as much as $22.99 a month, Peacock at $11.99 a month (with prices raising again soon), and Apple TV+ at $9.99 a month, anything less than $40 a month is a steal. At only $15, it’s a proper bargain. Granted, you’re getting the ad-supported versions of Netflix and Peacock with StreamSaver, but it’s still quite a deal indeed.
When Will StreamSaver Launch?
At first, Comcast CEO Brian Roberts did not mention a launch date when he announced the StreamSaver bundle. In this initial announcement, he didn’t mention pricing either. This made it hard to know when to expect StreamSaver to launch. But, in all likelihood, the reason was that Comcast still needed to iron out these details internally before going public with the information.
On May 21st, Comcast made it official: StreamSaver would launch the week of Memorial Day. In the meantime, interested individuals should consider getting themselves a Comcast or Xfinity plan before the official launch. That way, signing up for the streaming bundle will be even easier than starting from scratch.
How Comcast’s StreamSaver Bundle Compares
The aforementioned bundle from Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery is the closest thing to competition the StreamSaver will face. This rival bundle will launch in the summer of 2024. It’ll include Disney+, Hulu, and Max, and subscribers will see an option to sign up from any one of the three sites. Time will tell how it might compare to the price of Comcast’s StreamSaver bundle.
This isn’t to be confused with the other Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery joint venture, which, along with Fox Corporation, will provide subscribers with access to over a dozen different sports channels and broadcasters. Dubbed Venu Sports, the streaming service is supposed to be coming in fall 2024 and is estimated to cost around $40 a month.
StreamSaver is much more in line with the former bundle than the latter. $15 a month is more than half the price of Venu Sports. It’s hard to imagine Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery’s bundled service beating StreamSaver’s pricing, either. Individual subscriptions to each of the three services in the StreamSaver bundle would cost nearly $25 in all.
Why Comcast’s StreamSaver Bundle Is Worth It
In the streaming service frenzy of this day and age, any amount of savings is attractive. While it might not be worth going through the trouble of changing internet, TV, or phone providers just to reap the benefits of StreamSaver, existing Comcast and Xfinity customers should know that this bundle absolutely seems worth it (no matter what the cost ends up being). With luck, we’ll see more and more competitive bundles popping up in the months to come.
