The City of Williamsport has approved an agreement between the Williamsport Bureau of Fire and ESO for records and incident management software programs.
The agency had signed another contract, but that company’s software did not meet the agency’s needs. All documentation from the previous software package can be transferred to the ESO software, according to Fire Chief Sam Aungst.
The cost is just under $15,000 and because the agency did not pay the previous bill in January and February for the other service, the city will put that amount toward ESO costs. Each year after that, it would be $10,046, he said.
Councilwoman Bonnie Katz asked about the price difference. Aungst told her it was $1,500 to $2,500 less for ESO. Moreover, it was of the same quality and the agency’s administration reviewed the product with agency officials for a month and a half to two months and found it easier to use, he said.
Some incidents will have to be transferred manually to the new system. There is no penalty for terminating the contract with the previous software company.
