Xbox is rolling out a wave of long-requested features — and it’s the kind of update that feels more about fixing everyday annoyances. Instead of adding flashy extras, it addresses user pain points.

The changes are currently live for Xbox Insiders, but they’re expected to roll out more widely in the coming months. At the centre of the update is a bigger push toward customisation and control. These are two areas players have been asking Microsoft to improve for a while.

One of the more noticeable tweaks is to the Home screen. Players can now add up to 10 groups instead of just two. This makes it much easier to organise games, apps, and shortcuts. Reordering those groups has also been streamlined to match the way you already move games around. It is a small change, but one that should make the dashboard feel less clunky.

Personalisation gets a boost too. Xbox is introducing fully custom user colours, letting players fine-tune their own theme rather than picking from a limited preset list. The chosen colour even carries through to parts of the Guide, though it can be turned off if it’s a bit much.

The most practical addition, though, might be the update to Quick Resume. While it’s been one of Xbox’s standout features, it hasn’t always behaved perfectly — especially with games that don’t handle long pauses well. With this update, players can now disable Quick Resume on a per-game basis. This ensures those titles always launch fresh instead of resuming in a broken state.

Elsewhere, Xbox is making profiles a bit more dynamic. Recent profile badges will now show up directly in the Guide. This highlights a player’s latest achievements without needing to dig through menus.

Individually, none of these changes are huge. But taken together, they point to Microsoft focusing on the day-to-day experience. They are smoothing out rough edges rather than reinventing the console.

For now, the update is limited to Insiders, but if feedback lands well, these features should make their way to all Xbox players soon.
