A tech blogger Ice Universe said on Saturday that Xiaomi’s upcoming 16 series smartphones may feature narrower bezels than previous models. According to sources, the standard version will have bezels measuring around 1.0 mm, with the Pro and Pro Max versions at 1.1 mm and 1.15 mm. Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro Max is expected to have 1.36 mm bezels, meaning Xiaomi’s new models could offer a slimmer frame. The 16 series is also said to use a new LIPO packaging process, which applies high-polymer liquid material to cover the cable area and removes the buffer zone to enable the narrower design. Xiaomi has not commented on the matter. The 16 series is expected to launch in late September together with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset. [IThome, in Chinese]
