On Tuesday, Xiaomi rebranded one of its Weibo accounts from Xiaomi Brand Safety to Xiaomi Legal Department, as misleading reports about Xiaomi cars continue to spread widely. In China, intensifying competition in the mobile industry has led major mobile firms to launch Weibo accounts for their legal departments, as online unverified info may spark discussions to bring negative impacts for the enterprise. In November 2023, CEO Lei Jun announced that Xiaomi’s first car model, the SU7, is currently in trial production and is expected to be released in the domestic market in the coming months, with the final price yet to be determined.
